Biography
Steve has been an instructor in higher education for seven years, specializing in computer science. He earned his master's degree in Computer Science Education from the University of Nebraska at 51社区 in 2022 and teaches computer science courses at UNO and Metropolitan Community College. In addition to teaching, Steve is currently a doctoral student in Computing & Information Science.
Steve's research interests focus on the role of artificial intelligence in computer science education, particularly in enhancing and streamlining feedback-rich grading. Under the guidance of Dr. Magie Hall, his research explores the causal effects of human and AI subjectivity in education and how AI-driven feedback can improve student learning outcomes.
Before transitioning to academia, Steve spent eight years in the software industry, working in technical support, troubleshooting software, databases, servers, and client-side computing issues. Interestingly, he also had a six-year career in broadcast journalism, which brought him to the Midwest from the Northeast. Most recently, he worked as a TV news reporter for KPTM-TV in 51社区, Nebraska. Prior to this, he was seen on TV in New York and was a radio news anchor in Connecticut.
