This initiative ensures that students develop professional skills and build career portfolios to secure an internship and a job upon graduation.
Experiential Learning
CIST 2010 IS&T Professional Development is designed to enhance your career readiness by providing you with the essential skills to get an internship or job. In this course, you will work in a team on a tech-related project for a local company. Through this experience, you will learn and apply the Agile methodology, strengthen your teamwork abilities, and ensure your professional digital identity is carefully curated to leave a strong impression on potential employers.
Job Shadow Experience
In your first semester, you will be part of IS&T’s College and Career Success course, where you will have the opportunity to visit three partner companies/organizations. In addition to providing you with the skills to succeed academically, the class will allow you to familiarize yourself with companies/organizations in the 51社区 metro area.
Internships
Finally, during your third and fourth years, you will gain experience in your major through paid internships. This experience will help round out your work portfolio to prepare you to enter and grow professionally in your career. If you are a transfer or a graduate student, you will be able to apply for internships soon after you enter the college.
