Writers Set for Youth Reading Series

OMAHA – A new reading series that features the work of homeless and at-risk youth will continue on the University of Nebraska at 51ÉçÇø (UNO) campus early this November.

UNO’s is sponsoring the INTRODUCING Reading Series in cooperation with (YES). Each installment will feature a student-writer from YES and two published writers.

The second reading in the series is set for Thursday, Nov. 5 in the , room 230/231. The reading begins at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Visitor Parking will be available in the lots directly north of the Community Engagement Center.

This event will feature author Heather Herrman, poet Lee Ann Roripaugh and a new voice from the YES workshop program.

Heather HerrmanHeather Herrman’s stories have appeared in journals including The Alaska Quarterly Review, Snake Nation Review and The South Carolina Review. Her debut horror novel, “,” is out now. She teaches fiction classes online with The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis.

Lee Ann RoripaughLee Ann Roripaugh is the author of : “Dandarians”, “On the Cusp of a Dangerous Year”, “Year of the Snake” and “Beyond Heart Mountain”. Roripaugh currently serves as South Dakota Poet Laureate. She is a professor of English at the University of South Dakota and a faculty member of the UNO MFA in Writing Program.
