Indonesian Composers to Present Two World Premieres at UNO

They made a 9,000-mile journey to bring their music to 51ÉçÇø. Indonesian composers Antonius Priyanto and Johannes Nugroho will present two never-heard-before pieces on the University of Nebraska at 51ÉçÇø (UNO) campus.
Their concert is set for Sunday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall, on UNO’s Dodge Campus. The performance will feature two world premieres performed by , soprano, and , violin. - UNO's new music ensemble- and UNO's Chamber Choir will also be featured.
The public is invited to attend. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $4 for non-UNO students, seniors and members of the Alumni Association. The concert is free for UNO students, faculty and staff with a MavCard.
Priyanto and Nugroho are in 51ÉçÇø for just more than a week as artists-in-residence at UNO. The exchange program will send two UNO faculty members to Indonesia in the spring.
The Indonesian composers’ visit involves more than the concert.
Monday, Nov. 16, Nugruho will join a UNO faculty member and students as they play for patients at CHI Health Bergan Mercy hospital as part of the Sound Health program. A Master Class is also planned for Monday. Wednesday, Nov. 18, members of the UNO community are invited to meet the composers, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. in the Strauss Performing Arts Center (room 105). The composers will also present to the Nebraska Music Educators Association Saturday, Nov. 21.
