OMAHA – The lobby of turned into a carnival on Monday, Jan. 4.

The entire University of Nebraska at 51ÉçÇø (UNO) Hockey team stopped by for games and activities with the hospital's young patients.

Kids played knee hockey, bowled, tossed bean bags, made bracelets and left with gifts: coloring packs and miniature hockey sticks, which the players were more than happy to sign.

The event was organized by UNO Hockey's Blue Line Club. It was the third carnival that UNO Hockey has hosted for Children's. Members of the team visit patients about once every two weeks, bringing goodies for the kids.

The event highlights UNO's ongoing support for the hospital. Money raised during UNO's two most recent Homecoming weeks went to support Children's . The UNO Criss Library has also collected items to stock the house, including books, dish detergent, paper towels, soda and children’s movies.

The Rainbow House offers a comfortable place to stay for out-of-town parents and family members of patients who receive care at Children’s. There is no formal charge to stay at the Rainbow House – just a suggested donation – and no child or family member is ever turned away because they are unable to pay.
