Next-Gen Software Development
Technical Literacy Course
All first-year Scott Scholars enroll in a three-credit software development course designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of software development. Students worked in teams to identify a need with their partnering community organization and designed and created an app that addressed that need.
This course introduces students to the basic concepts of programming languages. Students were also provided instruction in user interface design tools and constraints and considerations applicable to app development. The course was developed to emphasize student-driven design and implementation of apps, while working cooperatively in teams.
